Tri-Colour Double Stamping Mani

Hi everyone, today's mani is a little simple elegance.  I achieved this look with a stamping plate, three polishes and some double stamping.  I hope you like it.

I started out by painting my pinkie, ring finger & thumb a light orchid (Lotus Begins) and my pointer and middle finger black (Black Creme).  I then added a layer of top coat to give my nails a nice smooth surface for stamping.  Also if I mess up stamping, it's easier to remove a stamped image from Top Coated nails with sticky tape then from just polish painted nails.

After the Top Coat was fully dry, I then went ahead and stamped the floral image from stamping plate XY14 in silver (Icicle) on my nail first and let that completely dry before I stamped the same image in black but offsetting it a little so the silver underneath peeks through.

XY14
I wanted the silver image to peek through so I offset the black image over top the silver.  It really needed the silver image to gives a little more depth and interest. I love this look, very elegant.

I love how pretty and feminine this mani is. Of course I would love it as purple is my favorite colour, but also love the simple elegance of this mani. I would wear this mani out to dinner or even a wedding.

I changed the look a bit by adding a matte top coat.  I'm not sure which I like better, the matte or glossy.

Nail Polish Canada

I received my very first Cirque Colors polishes, (and a couple of surprise extras), from Nail Polish Canada.  The polishes were my birthday gift from my Dad, and the extras were from NPC.  I wasn't expecting the extras, so that was a nice surprise for me.  Thank you NPC.

Nail Polish Canada is a great company to order from. They have a very easy website with lots of polish brands to choose from, like: A England, China Glaze, Color Club, Emily de Molly, Enchanted, NCLA, OPI, and Picture Polish, just to name a few.  You can even create you own wish list to save and use to keep track of the polishes you want to purchase in the future or you can share you list with other, (comes in handy arond the holidays and birthdays),  I love the Wish List page.

After deciding which polishes I wanted for my birthday, I placed my order.  From the moment NPC received my order, they emailed me their progress every step of the way, from receiving my order to payment and shipment of my order.  And shipping was fast!!  I placed my order on Monday and received it on Thursday!

These are my first polishes from Cirque Colors and I'm really excited to play with these (I see a holo rainbow mani in my future). I have heard lots of good things about this brand and really wanted to give them a try.  Their polish colours are beautiful, really pigmented and Holo! So, of course I had to have them!

The colours I got were: Limoncello (yellow), Panacea (green) & Valencia (orange). I chose to get these colours first because I already have a pinks, blues and purples in other holo polishes brands, but I don't have any of these colours.  It's a little hard to do a holo rainbow mani when you only have pink, blue & purple...lol

Stay tuned for my upcoming first impression review of these polishes, and nail art of course!

🎉Fourth of July Mani🎉

Happy Independence Day to all my American followers.  I wanted to do something fun and challenging for today to show my love.  I hope you like it. :-)

I started by protecting my natural nails with a base coat of UNT's 'Ready for Take-Off' peel off base coat.  This stuff is the bomb!  I love how it just glides down my nail and leaves a nice even surface for painting. But the best part about this product is how my mani just peels right off easily, and in most cases fully intact. There is very little clean up and I love that I don't have to soak my nails with acetone!

After the base coat dried (about 2 minutes) I started by painting my middle and ring finger a light blue, (Don't be Shallow), then black (Black Creme) on my pointer and pinkie fingers and finally white (White Creme) on my thumb.  I top coated all of my nails because I'll be using acrylic paints next and it's easier to "wash off" your mistakes.

When the Top Coat was fully dry I dotted in clouds on my ring and middle fingers with a dotting tool and white acrylic paint. When the clouds were fully dry I took black acrylic paint and my liner brush and painted an angled line across the ring and middle fingers.  Then I painted inverted triangles off of that line for the bunting flags.  I painted the bunting flags with red and blue acrylic paint, alternating the colours as I went.  Then I took white acrylic paint and dotted white dots on the blue bunting to simulate stars and white stripes on the red bunting.  I just love how cute the bunting turned out. :-)

For my pointer and pinkie fingers I wanted to paint some fireworks.  I started out with a black base colour (Black Creme), then with my liner brush started from a point on my nail and drew curved lines coming outward from the center of that point with white acrylic paint.  Next I took blue acrylic paint and painted the same design over top of the white design, (just a little smaller), making sure that I could still see the white lines underneath peeking through.  For the red I did the same thing making sure to paint the design again smaller still and being sure to see both the white and blue lines peeking through.

☝ Remember what I said before about top coating before working with acrylic paints?  Well I'm damn glad I Top Coated as I had to wash the paint off and start the fireworks over and over again a few times because I wasn't happy with their overall shape. This is the second mani that I've painted fireworks for and I'm noticing that both times I wasn't overly happy with them.  I'm thinking there's a knack to painting these things and I must not be holding my mouth right!😳 lol

When I was finally happy -ish with the shape of the fireworks, I took some 'Fairy Dust' and sparingly dropped a drop of it in the center of the firework.  I then I quickly took my liner brush and dragged the 'Fairy Dust' from the centre of the firework outward toward the tips of the firework to give them a little bit of a sparkle.

I expected to be challenged by the painting of the flag, (with the stars and stripes and all), but I was surprisingly mistaken.   Usually I'm not that great at painting stripes down my nail so I thought this was going to be a big mess, but these turned out to be the best stripes I've ever done!  So far. lol  Now, on to the stars...

Ok, so the stripes aren't the challenge, then the stars must be! So I start out painting my first star and I find that it's not too bad, so I go on to the next and the next and before I knew it I was finished and they all looked great.  I was expecting to have to "touch them up", but they turned out so great that I didn't want to mess with a good thing!  Flag, done!

Products Used:

Base Coat: UNT Ready for Take Off (peel off) Base Coat.

Polishes: China Glaze - Don't Be Shallow (light blue), Fairy Dust (holo top coat); +wetnwildbeauty  - Black Creme, White Creme.

Top Coat: Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat to seal and protect your design.

Tools Used: Polishes - listed above; Acrylic Paints - Black, Blue, Red & White; Fine Detail Nail Art brush; Nail Art Liner brush; Dotting Tool.

My overall thoughts on this mani?  I found this mani to be quite a bit of a surprise for me.   What I initially thought would be challenges turned out to be easy and the parts I thought would be easy were challenging.  I really did think my challenge was going to be that flag, with all those stripes, not to mention the stars!  But I'm really very happy with both the stars and the stripes.

The challenge for me turned out to be those blasted fireworks.  I totally expected that they would be the easiest thing for me to paint, but I ended up re-doing them 4 times before I settled on what you see now.  I just couldn't get that grand curve going on or the overall shape for the exploding firework.

Oh well, I guess I need to spend some more time on YouTube!  Learning, yes learning.  Oh hell, who am I kidding, I'll get distracted, then a few clicks later it'll be 4 am and I'll be watching a dancing chicken or some such nonsense, but I will have my paints out!👌 lol

Have a wonderful Independence Day and I'll see you soon.  May all your fireworks explode! ;-)

🍁Canada Day Mani🍁

Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canadians.

I got a new stamping plate in the mail Thursday, just for today.  I was so relieved to get it before the actual day.  It's usually my luck to get/find stuff the day after I need it. lol

I did the first mani for June 30th for running around and errands, but I changed it up for the actual Canada Day.

I used two stamping plates and my Clear Jelly Stamper to get all the lettering stamped on.  I was very lucky to be able to have plates that the lettering was about the same size and they had the all of the letters I needed.

These are the other stamping plates I used for this mani.

Summer Stargazing

My inspiration for this mani came again from +ohmygoshpolish's and her Mountain Galaxy mani she posted May 25th.  I love her tutorials and designs.  She's so talented and fun and her tutorials are so well put together that it's kind of like watching a DIY show on television.  If you haven't seen her yet, pop on over to Youtube and have a gander. (Link at bottom of post)

I also tried this mani with a Matte Top Coat.  I'm not sure which one I like most - glossy or matte.

Father's Day Mani

I know I"m posting this a little late, but it's been a weird and busy week for me.

Here is my first ever Father's Day mani I did for my dad for Father's Day.  I wanted to show him how much I loved him by doing a personalized mani just for him for his day.

One of the things my dad loves is lobster so I decided to do a lobster-esque mani for him for his day.

My dad was so impressed with this mani, and loved the fact that I did it just for him, that when we went out together shopping and whatnot, he kept grabbing my hands to show people (strangers) the mani his daughter did, just for him, for Father's Day. Now that's a proud papa!

I was just as personal with his gift selection as I was with his mani this year.  He has lots of hobbies and interest and one of his favorites is gardening.  As soon as the good weather hits, he's out in the garden puttering around, so I got him a really good quality trowel and a couple of other hand tools with longer handles, (no more bending over and hurting his back), from +LeeValleyTools.  I also got him a new summer shit for his business calls and some fire crackers to set off on those quiet summer nights.  For supper we had one of his favourite summer treats for supper, smoked pork chops on the BBQ and a delicious raspberry cake for dessert.  It was a terrific day with great food and family!

Products Used:

Base Coat: UNT Ready for Take Off (peel off) Base Coat.

Polishes: China Glaze - Dorothy Who (blue glitter), Peppermint To Be (red shimmer), Splish Splash (blue); +EssieCanada - After School Boy Blazer (navy); Orly - Star Spangled (red glitter); +Sinful Colors - Blue By You (blue shimmer), Pur Rouge (red); +wetnwildbeauty - French White Creme (white).

Top Coat(s):  Rush - 60 Second High Speed Top Coat; Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat to seal and protect your design.

Tools Used:   Polishes - listed above; Acrylic Paints - Black, Blue, Red & White; Fine Detail Nail Art brush, Chevron Tape; Dotting Tool, Stamping Plate - BM-504, Clear Jelly Stamper.

For this mani I combined a little stamping, a little vinyl and some hand-painting.  I started out with a white base colour and then using the new chevron tape, laid strips across my nail and painted with blue, 'Splish Splash'.  Since I have but one stamping plate with a lobster on it, (BM-504 from Sun Kissed collection by +Bundle Monster ), and the lobster is just one of the images from a full nail design, I chose to pick up the image on my stamper, then removed the other images with tape and stamped just the lobster images(s) on my nail.  I added some blue dots ('Splish Splash') to give it some extra colour and to pull the mani together.  For my thumb, I stamped the XOXO image from stamping plate OM-B06 in red shimmer then stamped the Hugs & Kisses image in navy blue ('After School Boy Blazer') over top of the XOXO's.  On my ring finger I hand-painted the "Dad's Day" with acrylic paints and dotted some red & blue dots in glitter polish ("Star Spangled' & 'Dorothy Who') to complete this look.  I love how bright and fun this mani is and that the three techniques worked and turned out beautifully!

🎀Polka Dots & Bows🎀

I was fooling around again with some stamping and wanted to practice a little double stamping with my Clear Jelly Stamper.  I am so loving this stamper!!  It has seriously taken my stamping to a whole new level.  I used to completely suck at stamping.  I couldn't get the image straight and placement was the worst!  But now, I have the awesome Clear Jelly Stamper to save my day!

I used a stamping plate from one of the Essence Nail Art Stampy Sets for this many.  Unfortunately, these plates aren't numbered or anything, but the plate I used happens to be the one for sale right now on their online shop.  Address below.👇

Products Used:

Base Coat: Finger Paints - Base Coat.

Polishes: China Glaze - Hang-Ten Toes (pink); Essie - Birthday Suit; Nina Ultra Pro - French White; Orly - Liquid Vinyl (black).

Top Coat: Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat to seal and protect your design.

Tools Used: Polishes - listed above 👆; Dotting Tool; Stamping Plate by Essence.

I love how cute and feminine this mani turned out.  I wasn't sure how it would look with my newly nubbed nails, but it turned out fantastic!😄🐭
